‘The church,’ someone observed, ‘exists chiefly for the benefit of its non-members.’
Certainly any church focused in on itself and its own needs is heading for oblivion. Jesus himself made sure that his followers would avoid that fate by challenging them to reach out to non-Christians with the gospel message and turn them into disciples of Christ. At 5TCF we love being able to tell others the good news about Jesus Christ.
Every member takes seriously their personal responsibility to represent the Christian message to their own circle of contacts. On top of that, we regularly organise different types of special, easy to access events that are designed to be a first encounter for people who want to find out about the Christian faith.
Christians are ordinary people, but with an extra dimension that comes from their faith
It could be a Chinese meal, a party, a hog roast, a murder mystery evening, a puppet show or a Christmas concert. Our aim is to demonstrate that Christians are ordinary people, but with an extra dimension that comes from their faith.
Those who are ready for a more hands-on exploration of what it means to be a Christian can join one of our regular Alpha courses. There, after a meal together, they can ask their questions and discuss the basics in a non-threatening atmosphere, with as much help from the hosts as they can handle.
If you are at some stage of exploring Christianity yourself, we invite you to join us for one of our social events, or contact us to find out when the next Alpha course begins.
