Blood, Sweat and Compassion
Trekking to the roof of Africa!
Being a 65 year old grandmother is not stopping 5TCF member Brenda Rathmell from undertaking the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for the charity Compassion. She is taking on the ‘Blood, Sweat and Compassion’ fundraising adventure in March to support the Compassion leadership development programme in Kenya.
Brenda Rathmell: “I am so excited to be able to join in this once in a lifetime opportunity to support the amazing work that Compassion does!”
Compassion is a Christian charity that supports child development in 26 third world countries. Brenda and her husband have supported Compassion for nearly ten years and have 2 sponsored children in Uganda and Ethiopia.
There is a team of 30 trekkers who leave the UK on 1 March 2012 to visit the students in Kenya they support and from there will journey to Tanzania to climb Africa’s highest mountain at 5895m! Each participant is looking to raise at least £2000 sponsorship and you can sponsor Brenda on a Sunday morning at 5TCF or on her fundraising page on the compassion website.
