The Link – Smawthorne

The link provide a foodbank for people in need of food for whatever reason.

Food donations can be brought to our Sunday gathering at New College.

Castleford Tigers Foundation

The Tigers are the glue that holds the town together. The foundation do some great work in the local community.

Castleford Community Paddlesports Club

The recently formed Paddlesport club operates on the local canals and rivers offering the chance for anybody to have a go and get out on the water.

They offer a range of craft and options for the local community which helps physical and mental wellbeing

Trinity Mission

Trinity Mission help serve the poor and vulnerable in the town through food parcels and a drop in service.

They are open:

Sunday, 6 pm until 8.00 pm
Food and Chat, Clothes

Monday 7:30 pm until 9:00 pm
Open for Tea/Cofee and a chat

Tuesday, 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m.
Two course Lunch and Chat

Wednesday, 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m.
Two Course Lunch and Chat.

We provide one food parcel per person a fortnight which
can be collected on a Sunday, Tuesday or Wednesday

Castleford Salvation Army offer a number of support groups throughout the week to help serve the Castleford community.

Queens Mill

Sitting on the banks of the River Aire, Queen’s Mill (formerly known as Allinson’s Mill) is the world’s largest stone grinding flour mill, with twenty pairs of stones.

Now Queen’s Mill is looked after by the Castleford Heritage Trust. They are open Monday – Friday 9.30-4.00 and offer a wide range of exciting activities and events for all the community and are home to tearooms, a craft beer shop, a coffee roaster, Riverside Paint a Pot, artists studios and lots more. They are also a wonderful venue for meetings, conference or celebratory event.

Vision Wakefield

Vision Wakefield is a gathering point for Christian Leaders across the district. It offers the chance to pray and support other whilst looking at how we can work together for the benefit of the district.

Wakefield City Of Sanctuary

Wakefield District City of Sanctuary offers welcome and inclusion to people coming to our district whose lives are in danger in their own countries.

Each week they support asylum seekers who are here legally but have no financial support.

Nova provides a range of services for the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector in Wakefield District.

Membership of Nova is free and provides a range of benefits and opportunities including training and funding for local organisations

Wakefield Youth Service

WF Youth is the council youth work service that delivers a wide variety of interventions and programmes for young people.

They also have an equipment loan service where you can borrow various pieces of equipment for events etc
